PLN 24- Fight Hunger While Learning Vocab

I was browsing through the Fischbowl when I found a article called Fight Hunger While Learning Vocab by Karl Fisch. This article talks about the opportunity for students to learn vocab and fight world hunger at the same time. Free Rice is a website with vocabulary words for people. You must click on the best fit definition of a word, and for every word you get right; they donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. This website helps improve vocabulary and sets to your own level.

I thought that even though, this may be boring to students, it is a very creative way to learn and also give at the same time. It is a great idea to improve on vocab and also gives food to the needy. This can relate to us because many of us need to advance in our vocabularly, and this would be a great chance to do so.

World hunger is a very common problem today, more groups and organizations should come up with more ideas like this website and solve the problem. There are people starving out there, and we need to be grateful for the many things we have; especially education. It can lead to more serious effects, and causes.

"Lots of possibilities here for creative teachers and students and maybe, just
maybe, doing some good in the process. And it's also, you know, kinda fun."

Jackie, good job relating the articles to your own life. You spoke pretty clearly but try not to look at your note cards as much.

You had a good presentation but you did not stay on topic and told personal stories, You are doing better on looking at the audience but you still read from your notes alot

I really like how you related it to you and told us that you went to Mexico to help. You need to look at the audience a little more, but so does everybody else so your not much different than the rest of us. You did a good job at exlaining you plns and you spoke loud and clear. Good Job!

Jackie, I thought you did a pretty good job. You read a lot from your paper so work on your eye contact. Maybe try to be a little more excited so it makes us want to pay attention. Good conections to your other entries, but work on connecting them to you.

Try to speak a little more louder and fluently, like a little more naturally. Look up more from your notes and make more eye contact. I thought you did good when you would explain how the posts related to you. I like how you also related that miracle story to the book we are reading. Good job!

Jackie, you did a great job on your presentation. You did great relating yourself to the articles. The only thing that you need to do is to look at the audiance more. You had a great question and keep up the good work.

Jackie! A little more eye contact would be good, but you still had good eye contact. I want to go on mission trips. That would be a life changing experiance. Thats sad that the man fell out of the boat and drowned. Thats so cool that they donate 20 grains of rice for every word you get right. Its a good way to learn and save the world. Thats a good story about the woman who won the lottery when she had nothing. I think miralces happen for a reason, like fate. Maybe you could be a little louder next time... but otherwise great job!

Jackie, i thought you did a good job on your presentation. The only thing i recommend working on is to not use your notes that much because you tend to look down and read straight from them. Other then that i think you did a good job.
